Why gay marriage should be illegal.

Nobody is born gay.

The arguement I am doing on my socio-political issue is why gay marriage should be illegal. However I am going to talk about a small part of why people want gay marriage to be legalized. These two social political issues can be debatable because both sides have plenty of supporters and facts.

People say gay marriage should be legalized as it lessens the populations in some country such as India and China. These two countries have the most populations with India (1.2 billion) and China (1.3 billion) people, some of the reasons of these rapidly growing populations are high fertility rate, illiteracy and rapid decline in death rates. Most people believe that legalizing gay marriage will not harm heterosexual marriages or "family values". However it does affects family values as it is important that children should be loved by a mother and a father.

A marriage can only be between a man and a woman no exceptions. I dont care if gay people would live together they can do what ever they want but a marriage can only be between a man and a woman.

Why I think gay-marriage should be illegal.

Leviticus 18:22 - Thou shalt not lie with a mankind, as with womankind; it is an abomination.

Many people want gay marriage to be illegal because it is a sin. 'To the religious people God's law comes before any law'  we were put on this world to marry the opposite sex as it is the sacred way. This means if gay-marriage is exists so should the other abnormal behaviours such as polygamy, adult-minor marriage and man-beast marriage.

I'm a religious person so I believe that gay marriage should be illegal.

To some people who are not religious they may perceive it as an affront to nature, because it is illogical for a same sex couple to occur in the natural world because they are unable to reproduce.

"No matter what you might think about same sex marriage, we know this:  Any child raised under a same sex union faces a tremendous loss — either no Mommy or no Daddy.  In a union where two men or two women are involved, that’s always the outcome.  When Mommy picks a woman or Daddy picks a man as a life-partner, the children always lose something enormously valuable and irreplaceable:  a mother or a father." - Michael Bauman

According to (Bauman, 2013) he is telling us that a child with the same sex parents won't feel the loved of having a mother and a father. This can be a painful experience or a consequence for a child, if the parents are both mothers the child won't have any proper discipline by a father which he will end up doing delinquent things. If the child doesn't experience a mother he/she won't feel the warmth love of a woman. Which I think is why many people disagree with same-sex marriage.

The child will have a massive impact on his/her life if the parents are the same gender. There are lots of discriminations and bullying against children who have gay parents. This could lead to depression and up being a suicide issue. Studies shows that children with gay parents have the tendency of attempting suicide and have greater levels of stress.

Rebellious teen nowadays have been kissing the same gender as them because they think it is "cool". The media is showing teens about girls kissing girls and they follow the footsteps of the media showing inappropriate behaviour that is not accepted in some part of the world and even most families. Even celebrities are going with this trend and the media feels that it's appropriate to show the whole world of same-sex kissing. Now everyone is just claiming to be a bi-sexual person as it is a "cool" trend in today's society.

If gay-marriage was legal both parents won't be able to reproduce instead they would have to adopt a child. Adoption has a lot of ethical pitfall, the parents wouldn't know the birth record as it is sealed which is not entirely the fault of the adoptive-parents. One day you might have to get used to the idea that the child may wish to leave and find their biological parents.

Gay Marriage

In conclusion, I think gay marriage should be illegal as it denies the child a mother and a father. It's in the best interest for a child that he/she be raised by both a mother and a father.

In New Zealand gay marriage has been legalised because NZ's parliament has voted in favour of allowing same-sex marriage which ruins the traditional marriage here in NZ.

"That same-sex marriage waters down traditional marriage is shown by the fact that in 1989 the Nordic countries legalized same-sex unions and in just 15 years, traditional marriage as we know it is almost extinct (Joseph Mattera, 2012)."

Many rebellious teens doing criminal acts have no discipline by a father or a mother because they are either raised by a single-parent, a relative or a foster parent. This is evidence that you need a proper mother and a father to give you a proper discipline which is also one of the reason why I think that gay marriage should be illegal.

And the main reason why I think gay marriage should be illegal is that it is not marriage. Addressing something marriage doesn't make it marriage. Marriage has always been the special bond a man and a woman have, which in nature be married and have children. Same-sex marriage promotes something entirely different, it denies prolonging the human race.

  1. hey man,

rather interesting topic to be chosen.
great points on how gay marriage has an negative impact on the child of the family. the point i want to address is that not everyone is religious and the truth is that everyone has their own freedom of choice, if they chose to be gay and get married it is not our right to tell them that is wrong. everyone are equal and we should let them chose how they live their life as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.
thats just my own opinion though, how the world see it might be different.

  2. Hey,

I actually have some amount of respect for people who are gay of their own choice. It is definitely a personal level subject, and quite sensitive.

New Zealand has no direct law against being gay or gay marriage, but they do have rules such as a gay couple cannot adopt as a "couple". Only one person can apply to adopt and the other must apply to be an additional guardian.

I enjoyed reading your points on gay marriage having a negative effect on the child of the family and yes I agree with it, especially if a boy child has two mothers (too feminine), or a girl child has two fathers (too masculine). It would cause further sexuality changes.

At the end of all this, I still believe that it is up to personal perspective and decision whether or not to be gay and gay marriages should not be illegal if those people wish to perpetuate and progress in life further.

  3. the world are still sort of new to this whole gay marriage but if i remember the ancient Romans of high standards would have a wife and sometimes a young male to share common affection with so its been around for a while but what confuses me is that gay people are allowed to be together as a couple but cant have it on a piece of paper that they are a married couple???

but society has many views on gay people and they are just starting to accept the fact that there is such a thing as same sex couples.
